Capability changes hands in whole units: teams, plants and shelves.

Indonesia stops importing the car and starts building it: BYD opens a 150,000-unit plant in West Java — DealStreetAsia · Permalink
BYD's West Java factory runs at 150,000 vehicles a year and employs nearly 9,000 people, heading toward 18,000. Its Indonesian sales have tripled since 2023.
Positive-sum angle: A 9,000-strong EV workforce west of Jakarta creates a local supplier bench — trim, wiring, logistics, servicing — that an Indonesian operator can sell into without ever building a car.
The outsourcer became the acquirer: Vietnam's FPT takes over a Japanese carmaker's Polish engineering team — TNGlobal · Permalink
FPT Poland absorbs Nippon Seiki Europe's software design unit, taking on head-up-display and embedded automotive work. Nippon Seiki stays on as a client of the team it sold.
Positive-sum angle: Any SEA services firm still pricing itself as offshore labour now has the counter-example: FPT bought the European seat rather than bidding for its overflow.
A US payments firm wanted the Kuala Lumpur and Singapore desks: ACI buys card-switching outfit Cranium Ventures — Fintech Singapore · Permalink
ACI Worldwide acquires UK-founded Cranium Ventures, whose SYNAP card-switching framework is built out of offices in Singapore and Malaysia. Terms undisclosed; closing in Q3 2026.
A venture firm skipped the round and bought the brand: DSG takes hangover label bback off Evo Commerce — DealStreetAsia · Permalink
DSG Consumer Partners acquired bback outright, a wellness brand stocked in more than 400 Singapore doors including Guardian and Watsons. Ex-Himalaya Wellness executive Saket Gore takes over as CEO.
Positive-sum angle: Consumer founders with real shelf distribution now have a buyer that pays for the shelf itself, not a term sheet that funds three more years of chasing it.

Never miss a SEA deal.
