Singapore buys the physical layer; Vietnam books a launch slot.

The AI chip bottleneck moves to Singapore: Powertech takes 30% of a $5.66B packaging venture — TNGlobal · Permalink

Powertech puts in $400 million for 30 percent of XCIP Technologies, a Broadcom joint venture in Singapore. Its fan-out panel packaging fits about 45 large AI dies per pass against eight or nine today. AMD ships first, in late 2027.

Positive-sum angle: Packaging is where AI chips actually queue. A second qualified site outside Taiwan shortens that queue for every fabless designer, not only for the client who paid to open it.

Conditional approvals cover 300MW for Sembcorp Utilities and 600MW for Ditrolic's Southern Solar Alliance, drawn from Johor solar and storage. Singapore now holds 13 conditional import approvals. Both target commercial operations in 2029.

GIC and Macquarie Asset Management own and fund Theseus Infrastructure, supplying majority equity on each project. Anthropic anchors as tenant and covers electricity price rises for consumers near the sites. The first builds are in the United States.
An $11.4M Vietnamese startup just bought a ride to orbit: VinSpace books SpaceX for 2027 — DealStreetAsia · Permalink

VinSpace, founded in November 2025 with 300 billion dong of capital, will fly its satellites on a SpaceX Transporter rideshare in 2027. Vingroup founder Pham Nhat Vuong holds majority ownership. Terms were not disclosed.

Positive-sum angle: Rideshare pricing means a national space capability no longer needs a national rocket. The work starts at the payload instead of the launch pad, which is a budget a mid-sized economy can carry.
