A billion Weixin wallets can now pay a Hanoi noodle shop: NAPAS links the QR rails
Vietnam's national payment switch connected VietQRGlobal to Weixin Pay with BIDV settling, reaching more than a billion Chinese users. It is the third China rail NAPAS has opened in 2026, after UnionPay and Alipay.
Positive-sum angle: Every merchant already showing a VietQR sticker inherits the corridor without new hardware, which is why the third rail costs far less to add than the first one did.
