BDx secures 1.2 gigawatts of Indonesian power for AI data centres — TNGlobal
The Singapore-based operator locked 1.2 GW across its Indonesian portfolio through a June 3 deal with state utility PLN, the largest single power commitment any data-centre operator has secured in the country.
Positive-sum angle: Power, not chips, is the binding constraint on Southeast Asian AI build-out. Securing grid capacity early de-risks the whole corridor: hyperscalers, local cloud resellers, and Indonesian developers all gain when megawatts are contracted rather than contested.
What's the impact: SEA infrastructure founders should treat power-purchase agreements as the real moat, not rack space. Lock grid capacity in Batam, Johor, and West Java before the corridor crowds, and sell guaranteed megawatts to the hyperscalers still queueing for it.
