Sefas moves from a joint arrangement with Citadel Pacific to full ownership of roughly 200 Shell-branded sites and a fuel terminal in Gresik. Shell keeps the brand licence and stays the supplier.

Positive-sum angle: A distributor that started out selling Shell lubricants in 1997 now owns the forecourt; the brand becomes a service the Indonesian operator rents, not a landlord it answers to.

Minor Food and Serruya PE buy the Korean fried-chicken chain from VIG Partners, which paid about $43 million for 55% in December 2018. Minor takes every market outside the Americas.

Positive-sum angle: A Thai group already operating in nine of Bonchon's markets can run the brand closer than a Seoul fund managing it at a distance; regional franchises are worth most to regional operators.

Positive-sum angle: A fifty-year term is the thing Vietnam can offer that a cheaper power tariff cannot, and short land clocks are exactly what pushed one Singapore operator out of the country this week.
