Brazilian meat packer JBS and Danantara Investment Management will form a joint venture covering Indonesia, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, folding in JBS's ANZ businesses. The Indonesian fund commits $2.5 billion.

Positive-sum angle: Processing capacity built inside the region turns Indonesian feed, farms and cold chains into export supply rather than import demand, and pays local operators before it pays freight.

Indonesia's financial regulator revoked the unit's licence on 5 August as Bank SMBC Indonesia wound it down. Its portfolio ran to a single startup, Dagangan, which took $6.6 million in pre-Series B funding.
