Someone's payday
- Would a taxi boss bet on motorbikes? Ex-Green SM chief Nguyễn Văn Thanh registers a US$1.1M maker — VnExpress
Nguyễn Văn Thanh, who ran electric taxi firm Green SM until June, registered Hanoi's Aves on September 9 with US$1.1M in charter capital, the money owners pledge to put in. Thanh holds 85%, and first bikes are due mid-2027.
Positive-sum angle: Vietnam sold more than 500,000 electric motorbikes in the first seven months of 2026, nearly 28% of the market. A second homegrown maker gives battery suppliers, dealers and repair shops another buyer, and gives riders another price to compare.
What's the impact: Hanoi founders in battery servicing, parts and rider financing have until mid-2027, when Aves plans to ship, to pitch as suppliers. Thanh's 85% stake is about US$980,000 (VND25.5 billion) of pledged capital, so every parts invoice gets an owner's eye.
Your costs
- Can a Bangkok pickup courier absorb another fuel rise? Diesel costs US$1.20 a litre from today — The Nation Thailand
Thailand's Oil Fuel Fund, the state pot that holds pump prices down, raised petrol, gasohol and diesel by US$0.026 a litre from September 15. Regular diesel now costs US$1.20, and the fund still spends about US$23M a day.
Positive-sum angle: Attacks on oil tankers along Middle Eastern shipping routes now set the cost of a Bangkok delivery run. A smaller subsidy keeps the fund able to cushion the next shock, and fleets that pass fuel costs through openly keep customers who can check the sum.
What's the impact: Thai logistics and food-delivery operators should reprice per-drop fees against the pump this week. A 60-litre pickup tank now costs about US$1.50 (THB51) more to fill, and B20, diesel blended with 20% biodiesel, still sells about US$0.15 a litre cheaper.
The tool
- No property, short track record? A Malaysian seller can now draw up to US$83,000 from GXBank — Fintech News Malaysia
Digital bank GXBank raised its Biz FlexiLoan credit line to US$83,000 for small firms with thin credit histories. The World Bank's IFC agreed to absorb up to about US$5M of first losses on a US$110M small-business loan book.
Positive-sum angle: With the IFC taking the first defaults, GXBank can lend to firms banks usually turn away. Their suppliers get paid sooner, and every repaid loan builds the credit record the next lender reads. About 15,000 small firms have opened accounts and drawn down more than 5,000 times.
What's the impact: Malaysian sellers without property or long accounts should apply for the US$83,000 (RM350,000) line before year-end stock orders. The opening sits in onboarding: GXBank is testing Finory to read council business licences, so a bookkeeping app that hands lenders clean records has a buyer.
