A tenth of Indonesia's fund market is Sharia-compliant: Abu Dhabi's BlueFive buys into Jakarta's Majoris
Abu Dhabi's BlueFive Capital took an undisclosed stake in Majoris, a Jakarta fund manager licensed by OJK, Indonesia's financial regulator, with US$220 million (Rp3.9 trillion) in mutual funds and 700,000 retail customers. Majoris becomes BlueFiveMajoris once OJK signs off.
Positive-sum angle: A founder building Sharia-compliant savings or retirement products in Indonesia or Malaysia now has a Gulf-funded distributor to pitch; BlueFive brought the money, Majoris brought the licence and 700,000 accounts.
